Herefordshire Council Launches New Call For Sites

Herefordshire Council is calling for landowners and developers to suggest sites for future development as it prepares a new Local Plan that will guide the growth of the county up to 2045.

As part of restarting the Local Plan making process, Herefordshire Council has formally opened a new Call for Sites to help shape its revised Local Plan. This is the first formal step in identifying land to meet updated housing targets, ahead of a full public consultation expected in Spring 2026.

The Call for Sites process encourages landowners and developers to put sites forward to be considered for housing development and for the development of employment uses within a revised local plan. Sites which Herefordshire Council consider to be appropriate for development will then be considered for a formal housing or employment use allocation in the revised Local Plan.g

The current process involves providing more detail about the site, any constraints, and viability than in previous Local Plan consultations. Any sites submitted in the past will need to be resubmitted to be considered.

Submitting a site doesn’t commit you to anything, but it can open the door to long-term development opportunities and may enhance the strategic value of your land.

Berrys can manage the entire submission process on your behalf and our expert team can also help assess whether it may be more advantageous to submit a pre-application enquiry, outline planning application or full planning application alongside a Call for Sites submission.

If you wish to discuss potential sites or for any planning and development enquiries, please contact the planning team at our Hereford office for a no-obligation, initial discussion on 01432 809830.
