Queen Street Townscape Heritage Scheme, Wolverhampton.

Queen Street Townscape Heritage Scheme, Wolverhampton.

Berrys were instructed by City of Wolverhampton Council on a consultancy basis to assist with their Queen Street Gateway Townscape Heritage Scheme which was extended following the Covid-19 pandemic. The council secured funding from the National Heritage Lottery Fund to support a programme of grant assisted works targeting buildings of architectural and historic interest.

How We Approached The Project

Our initial brief was to manage all stakeholders including landlords, tenants, contractors and the project partnership; reporting to the Council and National Lottery Heritage Fund to ensure the heritage-led regeneration works were successfully delivered.

We were then further instructed to undertake the final evaluation as part of the Lottery’s grant conditions to quantify and qualify the outcomes of the scheme to include the community engagement package.

How We Achieved The Project

Works were completed on a number of Georgian townhouses on the South side of Queen Street and on two shops located on the North Side. Eligible works included repairs to the external fabric of the buildings and enhancements involving the replication of lost features of architectural interest.
