Farm Management.

Farm Management.

How We Approached The Project

We were approached by a land-owning family who were looking for guidance on the running of their farm. The property had been left to various family members who had set up a limited company as their business structure. None of the family wanted to actively work on the farm themselves.

How We Achieved The Project

We considered all of the options available to the family. Their priority was for the farm to be continued to run ‘In hand’ with some guidance. In brief, some of the Initial work we carried out was as follows:

1. Fully understanding the client’s objectives and taking appropriate Instructions
2. Comprehensive review of the existing business
3. Future business planning
4. Hiring of a farm foreman
5. Sourcing farming contractors
6. Budgeting and cashflows
7. Generating a contracting agreement

Ongoing work that we carry out for the family Includes:

• Budgeting, costing and cash flows
• Management of farm bank accounts and payments
• Bookkeeping
• Purchasing of Inputs – we work closely with Frontier Agriculture
• Crop sales
• Quarterly management meetings with the family
• Management of contractors and timely reviews of the contracting agreements
• Working with the family’s other professional advisors Including their accountant
