Ebenezer Place is located within Kettering town centre and is located off Silver Street sitting within a highly sustainable location which provides a large number of services and amenities within a walkable distance for future occupants.
The proposed development involves the demolition of the existing commercial buildings on the site and replacement with one three-storey residential building containing 12 flats with a mix of 1 to 3 bedrooms.
The proposed building has been positioned to ensure that there will be no impact on the amenity on the surrounding residential properties or result in any loss of light.
The proposed scheme would utilise the existing vehicle access into the site from Ebenezer Place. This access will also provide safe pedestrian access onto Ebenezer Place and Silver Street beyond. In addition to this, there has been a soft approach to the external design of the scheme utilising light timber cladding on the first two floors to then be contrasted with the darker tones of the zinc cladding.
The site is partially within the Kettering Conservation Area however it is our view that the current appearance of the site does not positively contribute to the appearance of the wider area. It is therefore believed that a sympathetic redevelopment of the site would positively impact the appearance of the site within the context of the conservation area.
