Philip from Norton Farm Ltd. came to us with a vision for his Grade II listed farm buildings, which had seen better days. He knew it was time to get to work and restore them to their former glory, making the most of their potential.
Located within the beautiful village of Culmington, Shropshire, his vision was to relocate the entire farm into the open countryside. Once settled in their new location, he would also need to create a new home for the farmworkers. We were inspired by Philip’s vision, and couldn’t wait to get started.
We steered the project through detailed discussions with the local authority. By teaming up with the Council’s design and conservation officer, we came up with a sympathetic restoration of the existing farmstead and its listed barns. We also worked closely with Philip and a development company, making sure the plans were commercially realistic.
We put together a solid planning statement to make sure we could overcome any planning policy issues. Our proposal maximised the development area of the existing site, and secured the relocation of the farm and its new dwellings.
Because of its heritage context, our high quality designs and skilled planning negotiations were even more important for this project. By securing planning permission, we also secured the future of some of our country’s important designated heritage buildings.
