Berrys were approached by our client to provide planning and engineering consultancy to support a scheme providing teaching accommodation at Thomas Clarkson Academy, Wisbech, which will go on to become the newly formed Wisbech Academy.
Approved by the Department for Education in 2021, the new development will help to meet a growing demand for school places and offer local families a greater level of choice of schools. Due to be open in 2026, the new academy will provide 600 new secondary school places.
Berrys were delighted to support the preparation of two planning applications, which are for the provision of temporary teaching space for 360 students to meet demand whilst the new Wisbech Academy is under construction.
Our engineering team worked closely along side our planning team during the project to produce the flood risk assessment and outline drainage strategy to accompany the submission.
In September 2024 the approved teaching accommodation welcomed its first group of students. The staff at the new academy are excited to see the school grow and establish itself as an important asset for the young people of Wisbech.
