We were approached by our clients Darwin Group who had been contracted by Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust to design and construct a 21-bed ward building at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, located 1.7 miles from the centre of Aylesbury.
The new ward at the hospital is intended to support the existing Accident and Emergency Department.
Berrys prepared and submitted a full planning application to the local planning authority. Throughout the determination period we reviewed consultee comments, liaised with relevant stakeholders and provided responses to the local planning authority. The application also required a unilateral undertaking in relation to travel plan monitoring which we assisted with.
We were delighted to achieve planning permission for our client. Following this, the discharge of conditions applications was also prepared and submitted to the Council and were approved.
Prior to this submission we also secured another successful planning application for Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust for a three storey extension to the recently built Innovation Centre on site. Offering an important facility for research and development at the hospital.
