Wales Nutrient Management Investment Scheme – Open For Applications
The Welsh Government has opened a new application window for the Nutrient Management Investment Scheme, providing vital support to farmers committed to improving nutrient management and enhancing environmental performance. This round runs until the 5 September 2025, with an indicative budget of £16 million available.
Designed to support the transition to the Sustainable Farming Scheme, this scheme is part of the wider Sustainable Land Management framework, which promotes:
- Sustainable food production
- Improved soil, air and water quality
- Climate change mitigation
- Biodiversity and ecosystem resilience
- Cultural and public access benefits, including support for the Welsh language
What’s Covered?
The scheme funds infrastructure and capital investments – including slurry stores, nutrient storage facilities, and equipment to reduce on-farm pollution. The grants range between £12,000 and £50,000, with funding covering 40–50% of costs, depending on the item.
Eligible items include:
- Slurry stores and reception pits
- Covered manure stores
- Silage clamps
- Slurry store covers
- Roofing for existing yards
Who’s Eligible?
Applicant must meet the following conditions:
- Be a primary producer of agricultural products in Wales
- Have either 3 hectares of eligible land or demonstrate 550 standard labour hours
- Be registered with the Welsh Government and have a valid Customer Reference Number (CRN)
Group applications are also welcome, provided all members meet the eligibility criteria.
