Housing An Agricultural Worker.

Housing An Agricultural Worker.

We were approached by a farming client who was employing a new agricultural worker and was looking to supply him with accommodation as part of the job.

How We Approached And Achieved The Project

Initially we reviewed the client’s requirements and sourced a suitable property with our colleagues in our Rural & Residential Property Management team.

Once the property was secured we looked in to the details of the agreement. Even though the property wasn’t owned by the farmer, he could still accidentally fall in to the protection of historic legislation which gives long term rights to tenants.

We ensured that the agreement was properly drafted and the appropriate notices were served prior to the agreement starting and the day that the farm worker moved in to the property. We also ensured that there was the applicable minimal rent being paid by the farm worker, even though the majority of the cost was being met by the farmer himself.
